Falooda , fitness aur fikre
Most of us are fitness concious these days.
We are bothered about being and looking fit. Each of us choose different ways of staying fit.
Like going to the gym , joining a strength training centre. Trying out HIIT or resistence training from youtube videos . And yes who can forget JM's 30 day shred , walking in the park, yoga etc ... last but not the least the so called magic diets like GM diets etc.
Being active everyday is the most important thing these days with most of us sitting and working in front of computers.
Over the recent years, my views about fitness and food changed a lot due to people like rujutha diwekar ! (Now those who don't know who she is, please google and learn about her and her books) .
I have read few of her books and i loved it ! The main reason is that she advocates eating all the stuff which are restricted by other fitness gurus to lose weight. Lol !
Jokes apart , i really agree with her way of food habits. She promotes local food items. She says aloo parathas are the best breakfast !! ( you love her too right 😉) And what not?
Most of are so bothered about reducing calories but do we really check what nutrients are we eating? Where is the daily dose of proteins? Do you know proteins increases the metabolism ? When we cut down on ghee and cheese completely do we know how much nutrients are we losing?
I really know people who have lost weight with eating lots of cheese and ghee!
In this busy life, where do we find time to eat food right? That's a very good excuse we give and the result, so many youngsters below 35 standing outside the diabetologist clinic.
There is this kind of diet i came across in a group in FB. It is called low carb diet. You have tools to measure your fat percentage, then it automatically calculates calories per day for you to reduce weight. And it works on this principle that calories increases by 100 every week till it reaches a plateau. And you start all over again. The transformation of people is brilliant. It inspires us so much. Now don't ask me if i tried it.... lol... i am in the process (of understanding 🤣) . ! Lol
Among the protein, fat and carb percentage , protein takes the highest % then fat% then carbs.... This way along with exercise you lose weight! Yes you heard me right, With Exercise !!
Lot of us want it easy! Yes diets are very important but more than that we need some kind of exercise for the diets to work.
It can be just a half an hour work out or exercise or walk or yoga. But it must be daily. Few research /articles suggest that you neednt do the same excercise daily. You can do 7 different stuff for 1 whole week.
You don't need to go to the gym to be fit. You can buy weights online or get a resistence band online and work out at home seeing youtube videos. You can even dance for bollywood numbers to keep your metabolism going ! Doing yoga is a great exercise which gives results !
You don't have to start with strict diets or strict gym sessions.
Start making small changes in your daily life.
Include lot of proteins in your daily life.
Eggs/chicken if you can eat or go for pesarattu if you are a vegetarian. Start eating nice paneer fried in ghee for a snack .. ( i am definitely not kidding ) .. start eating chickpea sundal thrice a week. Have rajma twice a week. Have a cheese slice/cube daily. Include lot of proteins for breakfast.
Rice is the best ! You can lose weight by eating rice. Restrict the quantity of rice but never avoid it completely.
Avoid white sugar as much as possible.
Eat lot of fruits ... Daily eat lot of curd for probiotics.
Eating fermented foods helps the gut. Never avoid idli or dosa anyday.
There is no one fit all rule available. Start trying out sensible food diet options which can be followed continuously till you achieve your goal.
Diets without nutrition is never gonna help.
Drink atleast 2 to 3 litres of water.
Make your diets interesting. Start reading about rujutha diwekar ... start learning about good diets...
Last but not the least , nothing is beneficial without exercise !
Now u may question me how am i qualified to give such advises ?
I am a sincere fitness enthusiast... who is enthusiastic about food and fitness and writing this while im waiting for my falooda which i ordered from swiggy ! 😁
